Dust Masks and Disposable Respirators

Disposable face masks have different purposes and levels of respiratory protection that determine their categorization. While you might call any disposable mask a dust mask, some disposable masks offer enough protection to count as respirators. A dust mask will protect the surrounding area from droplets from the wearer. On the other hand, a respirator has the materials and certification to defend against certain hazards. Reusable Respirators

We sell full-face and half-mask reusable respirators that you can choose from based on your protection requirements. The right level of mask coverage for your next project will depend on:

• Types of hazards present: A full-face respirator will offer better protection when working with hazards that can irritate the eyes, splash hazards or spray hazards.
• Other required PPE: If you also need to wear PPE such as earmuffs or a face shield, a half-mask respirator may provide a better seal because the other PPE won't get in the way.

Respirator Filters

Respirator filters come in nine different classes that fall into three series - N, R and P - depending on their resistance to oil mists. An N series filter works in environments free from oil mists. Meanwhile, you can expose an R series filter to oil mists for one work shift and wear a P filter for even longer. The types of respirator filters we sell include:

• N95 filters: An N95 filter will filter any particulate that does not contain oil.
• P100 filters: A P100 filter will filter any particulate for longer than one work shift.

Respirator Cartridges

Cartridges for respirators filter gases and vapours, with some products also filtering particulates. We sell these cartridge types:

• Gas and vapour cartridges: Gas and vapour cartridges can filter organic or inorganic vapours and acid gases.
• Combination cartridges: Combination cartridges combine the gas and vapour-filtering capabilities of a gas and vapour filter with particulate filtering. These cartridges have a built-in filter to provide multiple types of protection.

Testing Products

• Fit test: A fit test ensures that a mask has a tight seal around the wearer's face. In qualitative fit testing, the tester checks if the wearer can smell or taste a testing solution that the mask should filter.
• Sensitivity test: Before conducting a fit test, the tester needs to perform a sensitivity test to determine how sensitive they are to the solution's taste and smell.
